Before the pour: the site inspection checklist we never skip

Supervision is where design intent meets reality. Of all the moments on site, the hour before a concrete pour matters most, because everything that is wrong afterwards is very expensive to put right.

The seven checks

• Reinforcement — bar sizes, spacing, laps and anchorage against the approved drawings.
• Cover — spacers in place and correct for the exposure class.
• Embedded items — sleeves, conduits, cast-in plates and openings coordinated with MEP.
• Formwork — alignment, levels, propping and cleanliness.
• Joints — construction joints prepared, waterstops fixed where required.
• Concrete — delivery tickets, slump and temperature checked, cubes taken.
• Curing plan — agreed and resourced, especially in summer.

Documented every time

Each inspection is photographed and signed off in a digital record that forms part of the handover package. When a client asks, years later, what is inside a slab, we can show them.
